Athena
EXTERIOR   |   INTERIOR   |   SPECIFICATIONS
Athena draws design inspiration from the magnificent yacht of the beginning of the 20th century as Creole and others. The hull lines have been drawn with the experience of the Dijkstra office and further optimized for appendages in both the towing tanks of the Delft Technical University and the Potsdam Versuchanstalt. Alustar has been chosen for the hull structure, having superior qualities over the standard shipbuilding aluminum. The keel has been optimized for the maximum draft restriction of 5.5 mtr. resulting in a long fin keel. The keel is of Alustar with the lead ballast stacked and poured inside. The rudder is a semi balanced mariner type rudder constructed in StSt supported by a StSt skeg which is set into a recess in the hull and isolated from the hull.
The amidships engine room is full width with a crew passage down the centerline. Athena is under engine driven by two controllable pitch propellers supported by A type brackets. The power supply is handled by three generators and one emergency generator is fitted in the lazarette according class. Both a bow and stern thruster are fitted for control in harbours. The anchor system shows two HHP Pool anchors set in hull recesses. The hull and bobstay rigging have been protected by stainless steel plating for chain chafe.

The systems include water makers, air conditioning, sewage treatment etc. to the latest developments and environmental standards. The electrical system is a further development on the Seascape / SCADA system already installed in the owner’s previous yacht Hyperion.
The interior design is by Pieter Beeldsnijder and best described as 'grand classic', using mahogany and teak, fielded panels. Accommodation is for 20 crew and 12 guests. The galley is industrial type StSt to cater for harbour parties > 100 guests, with walk in fridges and freezers.
